VAC – Advanced Magnetic Solutions
Consultation with semiconductor leader Allegro MicroSystems
Hanau - VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC) today announced a new line of open loop current sensors, designed to provide automakers with new options for increasing hybrid and electric vehicle performance and efficiency. The sensors are based on the latest current sensor ICs from Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. (“Allegro”) (Nasdaq: ALGM), adding additional features that leverage VAC’s expertise with crystalline soft magnetic material.
The first sensors are designed to sense current between the drive inverter and motor in hybrid and electric vehicles. The new open-loop sensors achieve an increased temperature range beyond the existing solutions in the market, and a wide module opening enables the assembly of large cables and busbars.
“We are thrilled to cooperate with an experienced supplier who can precisely implement our requirements and those of the market,” says José Gató, Head of Product Management Materials and Components at VAC. “First B-samples for can be ordered via our website.”
"VAC is a leader in magnetic materials and modules manufacturing,” says Shaun Milano, Business Line Director for Current Sensors at Allegro. “We are very excited to work with them on plug-and-play solutions that will allow automakers worldwide to benefit from market-leading current sensing accuracy in modules that help customers reduce time to market.”
